This charming restaurant offers a rich tapestry of flavors that both locals and adventurous food lovers will appreciate. Its focus on traditional home-style dishes brings a genuine slice of northern China to Sydney’s dining scene, making it a truly special destination.

The menu is thoughtfully curated, featuring standout dishes like the tender Braised Eggplant and the perfectly textured Wok Tofu, each showcasing a mastery over texture and spice that elevates simple ingredients into memorable plates. Noteworthy are the pork specialties such as Sauerkraut Boiled Pork and the fiery Spicy Shredded Pork, which balance hearty flavors with delicate seasoning, capturing the essence of Northeastern home cooking.

Rice dishes here serve as comforting mainstays, with options like Beef Brisket with Potato Over Rice and Kung Pao Chicken Over Rice presenting familiar flavors with an authentic twist. The soups, including the unique Gluten Tomato and Eggs Soup, offer warmth and depth, adding a nourishing dimension to the meal experience.

What truly elevates the dining experience at 春城 is the atmosphere — a casual yet welcoming space where portions are generous and service exudes genuine hospitality. It appeals to food enthusiasts who appreciate rich textures, bold flavors, and regional culinary traditions, as well as those looking to explore a less familiar, yet profoundly satisfying facet of Chinese cuisine.

While the bustling nature of the restaurant occasionally impacts its tidiness, the vibrant flavors and warm service consistently draw repeat visitors. 春城 City of Chun is a rare find for those wanting an immersive tastescape of Northeastern China, where every dish tells a story through its bold seasoning and traditional technique.

For anyone eager to delve into northern Chinese culinary culture—from the succulent pork dishes to the comforting soups—this restaurant offers a memorable journey that’s both accessible and deeply rewarding.

We were greeted by a very welcoming waiter when exploring the menu outside. Great selection of menu items - we had the braised eggplant and dry wok tofu and were able to make them vegan. The tofu were perfect in texture - crispy skin and soft centres fried in delicious spices. The braised eggplant was tender and beautifully cooked. Great food and friendly staff. Will come back to explore of the menu!

Delicious chinese food! Price is very reasonable, and the portion is huge. We've tried over 10 dishes at this restaurant, and no dishes have been dissappointing. Don't forget to also ask for their chilli oil! It's really fragrant and flavoursome. The only downside is that since they've become busier, the restaurant is less clean and has a lot of takeaway container boxes stacked up around the restaurant. When they first opened, the restaurant was very well styled and very clean.

A lovely homemade-style restaurant that truly captured the essence of northern Chinese cuisine. The Pork Rib with Green Beans Stew was a comforting dish, with tender pork ribs simmered to perfection alongside green beans. The Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork Slices offered the perfect balance of crunch and tangy sweetness, making every bite delightful. One of the highlights of the meal was the traditional Candied Sweet Potatoes. The caramelised coating on the sweet potatoes was both crispy and sticky, creating a beautiful contrast with the soft interior. It was an amazing finish to a wonderful meal. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring everyone at the table was more than satisfied. With the restaurant’s warm ambiance and attentive service, it made for a great dining experience. Whether you're a fan of northern Chinese cuisine or new to it, this neighbourhood gem is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning for more!

Recently tried the new dish 'Piggy in Blanket' at this Chinese Northeastern cuisine restaurant, and it was a delightful experience! The dish is both interesting and delicious, with the ingredients absorbing the flavorful soup and sauce perfectly. Highly recommend it, especially paired with their pancakes. Can't wait to come back for more!
